Matviyenko called the right decision proclaimed Donetsk and Luhansk to postpone local elections

MOSCOW, October 8. /Corr. Sergey Izotov/. The Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko considers as absolutely correct decision of the proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk national republics (DND and LNR) to postpone local elections next year.

Tuesday, October 6, DNR and LC announced agreement to postpone local elections in the republics of 18 October and 1 November 2015 for 2016 with full implementation by the Kiev political points “Minsk-2”. In particular, as noted in the statement, Kiev is obliged to provide the Donbass special status, to prevent the prosecution and punishment of persons-participants of events in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as to be re-voted amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in the new, agreed with DND and LNR editions.

“I think they absolutely did the right thing, not putting so sharply the question (about local elections)”, – said Thursday the Senator in an interview with reporters, responding to a question.

“I personally welcome the decision, such flexibility on the part of the leadership of DND and LNR”, – concluded the speaker of the Federation Council.
