SOCHI, October 8. The President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov has chosen not to disclose details of the talks between the leaders of Russia and France Vladimir Putin and Francois Hollande to discuss ways of settling the Syrian crisis, in particular, coordination of efforts by Syrian government forces and the opposition “free Syrian army”.
“I don’t would like to reveal the nuances of the exchange of views,” he told reporters.
“He was very constructive and very detailed,” added Sands.
Earlier, Putin said that at the meeting on 2 October, the Hollande made the suggestion that we could try to combine the efforts of the army of the government forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the so-called “free Syrian army”.
“Mr. Hollande expressed an interesting idea that would, in his opinion, to try anyway to combine the efforts of the army of government troops, the army of President Assad and the so-called Free Syrian army,” – said Putin. “However, we don’t know where she is and who heads it, but assuming that it’s military wing so-called healthy part of the opposition, if it were possible to unite the efforts in struggle against the common enemy, terrorist organizations, ISIL, “jabhat al-al – Nusra” and others of that ilk, we would then have created good preconditions for an eventual political settlement in Syria,” he said.
The Supreme commander has instructed Shoigu to support this initiative and to weaken contact with other foreign partners. He added that the foreign Ministry will continue these efforts and to communicate with almost all opposition forces.
