SOCHI, October 10. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin discussed with the permanent members of Russian security Council the situation in Syria and the operation of Air and Space forces (VKS) Russia.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the head of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko, state Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin, head of the Russian presidential administration Sergei Ivanov, security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev, interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.

In addition, the participation of the head of the FSB Alexander Bortnikov, SVR Director Mikhail Fradkov, Deputy Secretary of the security Council Rashid Nurgaliev, a permanent member of the security Council Boris Gryzlov.

“The Russian President held an operative meeting with permanent members of the security Council. During the meeting they discussed the situation in Syria, as well as the operation of Air and Space forces in support of offensive operations of the Syrian army”, – said the press Secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov.

In addition, according to him, the fight against terrorism and extremism were also addressed in a broader context. “The President once again expressed condolences to the Turkish people in connection with the terrorist attack that happened today in Ankara,” he said.
