Mironov: the elimination of “Transaero” can lead to a state monopoly

Leader SR Sergey Mironov said that he had instructed the members of the faction, members of the state Duma Committee on transport, to prepare proposals, “what can and must be done so that such situations do not happen again and we need competition and there are no monopolies on the price of tickets”.

MOSCOW, 12 Oct. The elimination of airline “Transaero” no benefit to passengers will not bring, created a state monopoly for air travel, believes the leader of “Fair Russia” Sergey Mironov.

The largest Russian privately owned airline Transaero has been unable to service debts, which form together with the leasing obligations of about 250 billion rubles. Approved in September the government plan for the transfer of 75% of actions “Transaero” state “Aeroflot” for the subsequent rehabilitation took off. The creditors are considering the option of bankruptcy.

“It looks like another is created a state monopoly for air travel that is fundamentally wrong, from my point of view,” Mironov told journalists.

He suggested that perhaps in the management of Transaero airlines could be some tactical and commercial errors.

“But what was really a large company that competed on equal terms with Aeroflot, including pricing, is quite obvious. Liquidation of such a company, naturally, any benefit to our passengers will not bring”, — said the Deputy.

Mironov said that he had instructed the members of his faction, which consists of the state Duma Committee on transport, to prepare proposals, “what can and must be done so that such situations do not happen again and we need competition and there are no monopolies on the price of tickets”.
