Putin called for serious work with foreign partners to resolve the situation in Syria

MOSCOW, October 13. The President of Russia Vladimir Putin urged to translate the work with foreign partners to resolve the situation in Syria to a serious level delegation from the Russian Federation would be headed by the Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev.

“I said that he would be willing to send a large delegation to Washington to discuss, primarily, issues of the Syrian settlement, said Putin. – We believe it would be, it could be a serious representative delegation from Russia headed by Chairman of RF government Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev.”

All actions of the Russian Federation based on the UN Charter and international law, said the head of state, speaking at the forum VTB “Russia calling!”

“I draw your attention to the fact that all of our actions, I have already said, are in strict accordance with the UN Charter and international law, unlike our colleagues from the so-called international coalition led by the United States that act without a resolution from the UN Security Council and without the invitation of the Syrian authorities,” – said Putin.

The President of the Russian Federation regretted that contacts with the USA are only at the level of the military, and need a common work by constraint forces in Syria to a political settlement.

“It seems to me that this (the settlement of the Syrian crisis) we should all be concerned, – said Putin. Unfortunately, while it may be that for a start is not bad, today the work is only at the level of the military departments and the military in matters of a technical nature, up to the mapping systems “friend or foe” on our aircraft. But I guess that’s not enough”.

“If we want to be effective, do not just want to shoot and rocket attacks to inflict, and to achieve a political settlement, we should encourage those forces within the country, and the conflict is complex, multidisciplinary, collaborative work between different forces inside Syria,” said the Russian leader.

The Russian Federation is committed to leadership in Syria, said the Russian President.

“I don’t want anyone to discuss, but I want to note, we do not aspire to any leadership in Syria. In Syria can only be one leader of the Syrian people. We strive to contribute to the fight against terrorism, which is dangerous for the United States of America, for Russia, for Europe and for the whole world,” Putin said.
