Sister Hope Savchenko not allowed in Russia until 2020

MOSCOW, October 13. The sister of the accused in Russia of aiding in the murder of two Russian journalists, Savchenko Faith denied entry to Russia.

According to the lawyer Mark Feigin, Savchenko was deprived of the only defence witness.

“Just called sister Hope Savchenko Faith. She was denied entry to Russia until 2020”, – said Feigin. According to him, at a checkpoint Cherkovo-Cretaceous on the border of Russia and Ukraine Faith Savchenko has informed that FSB has banned her entry into the Russian Federation. “In my opinion, this is done for reasons of national security,” the lawyer said.

“Due to the fact that the Faith is denied entry into the country, Hope had lost the only witness for the defense”, – said Feigin. He noted that therefore, his client is now “deprived now of the right to defense, as sister Faith was declared the only witness at the trial”.

Feigin said that other witnesses who could testify in court, also can’t come to Russia, as against them prosecuted. “We will appeal the decision of the FSB on the prohibition of Faith Savchenko to enter the territory of the Russian Federation,” the lawyer added.

The case of former Ukrainian army

According to the investigation, as an officer of the armed forces of Ukraine, while the location of a paramilitary battalion “Aydar” on June 17, 2014 near the village of Metallist, Slavyanoserbsk district, Luhansk region, Savchenko was conducting secret surveillance and correction of shelling the checkpoint of the militia LNR with him were civilians, including three citizens of the Russian Federation – correspondents VGTRK. In the shelling of journalists Igor Kornelyuk and Anton Voloshin were killed.

The testimony of prosecution witness

On 12 October, the militia LNR, now Deputy Minister of health declared Lugansk people’s Republic Igor Solyanik said at the interrogation in the trial of former Ukrainian army Hope Savchenko, which heard how she called herself an artillery spotter, in which, according to the investigation, killed the Russian journalists.

According to him, he was amongst the fighters of the militia, when his colleagues brought the prisoner.

“The attacks were conducted from 6:00 PM local time. Initially, the attack was chaotic. Later the shelling became more accurate, aligned on our positions. The third attack was at about 13:00. Savchenko was taken prisoner not me. When I saw her, she was dressed in a camouflage uniform with a blue scarf with yellow inscriptions. She said she is not a sniper, and the operator of the helicopter, shooter and spotter fire,” said Solyanik.
