The state Duma has refused to deprive of mandates of parliamentarians for finding abroad more than a month


MOSCOW, October 13. The state Duma rejected in the first reading the draft law about deprivation of mandates of deputies and senators, more than a month are located abroad “without reasonable excuse”. The initiative was introduced by the lower house a member of the Communist party Ivan Nikitchuk.

He proposed to enshrine in law the status of Deputy of the state Duma and councillors of Federation FS of the Russian Federation position according to which the powers of the Parliament early termination in the event “finding no good reason at a foreign country for a period exceeding one month”.

Nikitchuk from the rostrum of the state Duma admitted that his proposed amendments related to the activities of two parliamentarians – Alexei Mitrofanov and Ilya Ponomarev, who were deprived of parliamentary immunity in the investigation of criminal cases and are hiding abroad.

However, against the adoption of the initiative were made by the relevant Committee on constitutional legislation and state construction. According to members of the Committee, Russian law already fully regulates the issues of early termination of powers of members of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
