Foreign Ministry: Russia is ready to cooperate with the new members of the UN security Council, including Ukraine


MOSCOW, October 15. Russia is ready for constructive cooperation with the newly elected members of the UN Security Council. This was stated by the Russian foreign Ministry.

On Thursday, the UN General Assembly elected five non-permanent members of the Security Council for the period 2016-2017, which are Egypt, Senegal, Ukraine, Uruguay and Japan.

“We hope that by participating in the work of the UN organ with the primary responsibility for maintaining international peace and security, these States will actively contribute to the strengthening of the Central role of the Organization in international Affairs, improving its efficiency and credibility in the implementation of the global agenda, to advocate political and diplomatic settlement of crisis situations on the basis of strict respect for the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and international law,” he said in depodesta. “Ready for constructive cooperation with the newly elected members of the Security Council”, – said the Russian foreign Ministry.
