German authorities ordered Volkswagen to recall 2.4 million vehicles in connection with the “diesel” scandal


BERLIN, October 15. German authorities on Thursday ordered Volkswagen to recall 2.4 million vehicles in connection with the “diesel” scandal, said the Federal office for motor vehicles (KBA) of the country.

“We gave the order of withdrawal”, – quotes the statement of the official representative of the Agency Reuters. The reason for the revocation was the need to replace software that is installed on diesel-powered equipment of the company with the aim of falsifying the results of tests on the exhaust emissions in the United States.

German newspaper Bild reported that the Directorate of vehicles rejected the proposal of the company Volkswagen about the recall of cars was carried out at the request of their owners.

In September the Volkswagen stated that he had installed a diesel machine software, which allows to reduce the content of harmful substances in exhaust gases. The purpose of this was to pass the environmental tests in the United States. Because this program can be disabled by the authorities of the United States and several other countries have deemed these actions are fraudulent and launched an investigation.

Volkswagen acknowledged that such a program was installed on 11 million cars produced by this company around the world.
