“The sales volumes in January-September 2015 increased by 8% compared with the same period last year, amounting to RUR 70.9 million tons of coal. The growth of sales in the domestic market was 14%. Russian customers consumed 36,3 million tons of coal, of which 29.7 million tonnes shipped to electric power companies. The volume of international sales increased by 3% and amounted to 34.6 mn tonnes of coal. The main directions of international sales are Japan, China, South Korea, Netherlands, Taiwan, India, UK, Germany”, — stated in a press release.
According to a member of the Board of Directors of SUEK Klaus-Dieter Beck, “SUEK” for the first nine months of the current year continues to occupy a leading position on the Russian market of energy coal. “Sales growth in the domestic market in the reporting period due to increased demand for coal from the Russian power generating companies because of lack of water in rivers and, consequently, a lower output from hydropower plants. The new power units under capacity supply contracts also contributed to the increase in demand for coal produced, including the enterprises of “SUEK,” said Beck.
JSC “SUEK” is one of the leading coal mining company, Russia’s largest coal producer, the largest supplier to the domestic market and for export. Mining, processing, transport and service SUEK’s enterprises are located in seven regions of Russia. At the enterprises of SUEK employs more than 33 thousand people.
