Responding to global challenges was discussed at the Council of CIS heads


In recent years, the world undergoes a global change in its many spheres, first of all, it is economic and security issues, said the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

The VILLAGE BURABAI (Kazakhstan), 16 Oct. The need for an effective response to global changes and challenges have become one of the topics discussed at the meeting of the Council of heads of States-participants of the CIS, said President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Nazarbayev said that for anybody not a secret that “in recent years, the world undergoes a global change in its many spheres, first of all, it is economic and security issues”. “What is happening cannot but demand that our organization of the appropriate development, adaptation to new conditions. The CIS must also evolve to adapt to new realities, and more effective to respond to global changes and challenges. We talked about this,” said Nazarbayev at the enlarged meeting.

According to him, one of the topics of discussion is the international situation in the security sphere. Describing the situation in the world, the President of Kazakhstan emphasized the need to state intensification of terrorist groups, whose activities undermine the foundations of established world order. “It is important to note that the international terrorism is very destructive impact on the situation in many States and affects entire regions. Significant escalation of violence has increased the number of civilian casualties, mostly women and children,” — said the Kazakhstani leader.

As a result, according to the President, this led to the most ambitious since the Second world war forced migration of the civilian population of North Africa and the Middle East to Europe. “On the solution of this problem will require enormous financial, human resources. Moreover, as refugees may be hiding the terrorists, the task of which is the formation of pockets of instability”, — he said.

“We, the heads of CIS States, solidarity in the need to take timely and effective measures of minimizing influential terrorist security threats. As I said from the UN podium in order to contend, we need to create a global network of combating terrorist organization, with the approval of the UN. We need to strengthen work in this area, maximize the potential of the anti-terrorist center of the CIS”, — said the President of Kazakhstan. He noted that the adoption of the Declaration of heads of CIS States on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the UN in combating international terrorism is “both timely and popular.”
