Rosstat: unemployment in Russia in September fell to 5.2%


According to Rosstat, according to preliminary results from sample survey of population on problems of employment in August 2015 to 4 million people were classified as unemployed.

MOSCOW, 19 Oct. The unemployment rate in Russia in September resumed its decline after a month of stability — by the end of September the number of unemployed amounted to 4 million, or 5.2% of the economically active population, informs Rosstat.

“In August 2015, according to preliminary results of the sample survey on employment problems. 4 million, or 5.2% of the economically active population, were classified as unemployed (according to methodology of the International labour organization)”, — stated in the materials of Rosstat.

In state institutions of the employment service there were 0.9 million, including 0.7 million people were receiving unemployment benefits.

The number of economically active population in August amounted to 77 million people, or 53% of the total population of the country.

The unemployment rate in Russia in January was 5.5% of the economically active population in February rose to 5.8% in March to 5.9%. The decline began in April, when the rate was 5.8%. In may, the unemployment rate declined to 5.6% in June to 5.4% in July and August it was 5.3%. By the end of 2015 the Ministry of economic development predicts unemployment at 5.8%, at the end of 2016 the figure is expected at this level.
