SIMFEROPOL, 20 Oct. China international payment system UnionPay earned in the Crimea, it is intended to replace on the Peninsula past MasterCard and Visa, according to BaikalBank first started issuance and acquiring of cards of the Chinese system.

About a year ago due to the economic sanctions of the USA in Crimea ceased to exist, a major international payment systems Visa and MasterCard. The Crimean market is also gone, and many international operators conducting money transfer.

“BaikalBank already started issuing payment cards on the Peninsula, most of which are produced in the framework of salary projects. Infrastructure customer service on the cards of UnionPay are now actively being expanded to include six cities of the region: Simferopol, Sevastopol, Yalta, Evpatoria, Saki, and Kerch”, — stated in the message.

The Bank recalled that UnionPay, has been successfully operating in Russia since 2013, and does not support international economic sanctions, which in the Crimea are not free to work with MasterCard and Visa.

“Today is the first UnionPay international payment system, which will be fully operational in the Crimea”, — said the head of the Crimean branch of BaikalBank Olesya burdukovskaya.

According to her, UPI card to pay for goods and services and withdraw cash in more than 150 countries, so it will be convenient and for those customers who frequently travel abroad. The system is used by more than 300 banks worldwide.
