Generation of the Crimea for 8 months provided 22% of electricity

Produced in Crimea 797 million KW/h to generate CHP had 474 million KWh, alternative sources produced about 320 million KWh, said the head of Committee of the state Council of the Republic for industry, transport and energy Peter Zaporozhets.

SIMFEROPOL, 20 Oct. Own generation in the Crimea for the first eight months of 2015 accounted for about 800 million KWh (about 22% of the amount consumed — ed) of electric power, said Tuesday on radio “Russia today,” the head of Committee of the state Council of the Republic for industry, transport and energy Peter Zaporozhets.

“In absolute numbers here are the statistics: from January to August 2015, the consumption amounted to 3,652 billion KWh, which is 42 million KWh or 1.2% more than the same period in 2014. Own generation in the Crimea for the first eight months of this year totalled 797 million KWh (about 22% of the amount consumed — ed.),” Zaporozhets said.

Produced in Crimea 797 million KW/h to generate CHP had 474 million KWh (or about 60% of the Crimean generation), alternative sources (wind and solar energy) gave approximately 320 million KWh. MGTS produced about 3 million KWh, said the Cossack.

The head of the Committee linked the increase in the energy consumption of the Republic with the growth of economic activity in the Crimea.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of energy of the Russian Federation, the region needed an additional approximately 880 megawatts of capacity. The end of the year under construction primarily Russia power bridge to Crimea must be commissioned, which will give to the Crimea from the mainland to 400 megawatts of power. The second phase will increase the power flow to 800-840 MW — the construction will finish in summer 2016.
