Lavrov: Russia will establish the principle of non-interference in the internal Affairs of countries

The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he intends to discuss with all countries-members of the United Nations the adoption of the Declaration, which clearly confirmed the principle of non-interference in the internal Affairs of States.

MOSCOW, 2 Oct. Russia expects to consolidate the principle of non-interference in the internal Affairs of States by international Declaration, said the Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

“This is one of the fundamental principles of the UN Charter. Under various pretexts, unfortunately, it was not always observed”, — said Lavrov in an interview with Venezuelan state television.

“Given that attempts such free interpretations of the principle of non-interference occur at regular intervals, including in the context of the Syrian crisis, we want to discuss with all member countries the possibility of adopting a Declaration, which clearly reaffirms the principle of non-interference in the internal Affairs of the state”, — said the foreign Minister.

Thus, according to Lavrov, this initiative has a chance to succeed. “The idea has gained widespread support, but, of course, there is resistance from those who feel entitled don’t have to follow its obligations under the Charter of the world organization”, — said the Minister.
