The pay-TV market in Russia continues to be satisfied, for the third quarter of 2015 was connected with 400 thousand subscribers. The biggest growth segment is provided with satellite TV.

MOSCOW, 20 Oct. The number of pay TV subscribers in Russia in the first nine months was 39.1 million, an increase compared to the same period of 2014 by 6% from 36.9 million users, shows a study of the analytical Agency TelecomDaily.

In the third quarter, 88% of new connections provided the first “five” of the largest operators of paid TV “Tricolor TV”, “Rostelecom”, MTS, “Orion Express” and “ER-Telcom”. These operators are divided between more than 71% of the Russian pay-TV market. While the leaders of the market of paid TV “Tricolor TV” and “Rostelecom” accounts for more than 50% of the market by number of subscribers, analysts estimated TelecomDaily.

The market is saturated

According to TelecomDaily, since the beginning of 2015 was connected 1.5 million subscribers. The growth rate for the third quarter amounted to 400 thousand subscribers, while the second was connected with 700 thousand users.

The satellite is growing faster

The biggest growth segment provides satellite TV, while the operators fixed the TV does not show major changes due to the lack of launch networks in new regions, increasing the base only by increasing share in existing regions, says the report.
