MOSCOW, October 21. Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday will take part in a video conference with President of Argentina Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner. About it has informed journalists a press-Secretary of Russian leader Dmitry Peskov.
According to him, the event will be dedicated to the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Argentina. “It’s a pretty important date, and therefore the heads of state agreed to hold a videoconference”, – said the representative of the Kremlin.
In October last year, the two leaders already communicated in the format of teleconference – Kirchner from Argentina, Putin Novo-Ogaryovo – during the launch of TV channel RT in Spanish in Argentina. As said Peskov, the TV channel will be the organizer of the video conference.
Diplomatic relations between the Russian Empire and Argentina were established on October 22, 1885, suspended in October 1917 and was restored between the USSR and Argentina in 1946. In December 1991, the Argentine government recognized the Russian Federation as a legal successor of the USSR. Since then there have been four of the visit of the Argentine heads to Russia and visits by Russian leaders to Argentina. So, Putin visited this Latin American country in July 2014. Kirchner came to Russia in December 2008 and April 2015.
During last year’s teleconference with Kirchner, the Russian leader stressed that Russia and Argentina “brings together 130 years of diplomatic relations, but the coincidence of many interests.” According to him, Argentina is an example for many other countries in the struggle for their rights. “We will develop and continue relationships, we will do everything to make life better for our people”, – Putin said.
