Sokolov: the fate of “Transaero” in the hands of creditors rather than shareholders


Minister of transport of Russia Maxim Sokolov said that total debt Transaero ahead of all creditors is in the range of 250-260 billion rubles. On a pool of loans “Transaero” has more than 80 billion rubles.

MOSCOW, 21 Oct. Destiny standing on the verge of bankruptcy of airline “Transaero” from the point of view of the legislation is still in the hands of creditors rather than shareholders, said the transport Minister Maxim Sokolov.

He recalled that the aggregate indebtedness Transaero ahead of all creditors, which, according to preliminary estimates, there are about 100-150 of legal entities and individuals, according to experts, is in the range of 250-260 billion rubles. According to him, on a pool of loans “Transaero” has more than 80 billion rubles, more volume — liabilities to leasing companies.

“The fate of the company today is not in the hands of shareholders, it is in the hands of creditors,” — said Sokolov in interview to TV channel “Russia 24”.

On Tuesday evening it became known that the group shareholder of S7 airlines Vladislav Filev has signed an agreement to purchase not less than 51% of actions “Transaero”.
