MOSCOW, October 21. The revenue from online video in Russia in 2025 with the development of fee-based services could grow by 65% with a projected 485 billion rubles in 2015 to 800 billion rubles This assessment in an interview was voiced by President of “Media Union Communication” (ISS) Sergei Petrov on the eve of the forum RIW 2015.

“We estimate that if the introduction of the paid model of content consumption, the industry’s revenue will grow by 65% to 485 billion rubles in 2015 to 800 billion rubles by 2025,” said he.

Estimated Petrova, about 35% of the revenues of TV and video services can make payment by users. “It is, indeed, a huge jerk, which the market is able to do at activation of three main today of the drivers of growth, including expansion of online video, the development of pay TV and wireless broadband access”, – the expert believes.

He stressed that the growth of the Russian online video market is impossible without reducing the level of piracy of consumption. Currently up to 90% of network traffic is pirated content, and the annual loss due to piracy amounts to more than 28 billion rubles.

Petrov is sure that, when any major online video platform, and will have the opportunity to watch exclusive premieres, users will be willing to pay for the services of paid TV. The development of infrastructure of content delivery will provide the technological basis for implementing the concept of seamless consumption always and everywhere, where a key role is played by the quality of access.
