According to the order of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev, the fuel savings generated by the commissioning of these power units will be transferred to the Russian side, which, in turn, will sell it and the proceeds will go to pay off the loan.

“We are launching the most ambitious project in the last 25 years. In fact, by signing these documents we are establishing new mechanisms of cooperation in the economic and investment sphere, which can become a model for our countries in the long term,” said Matvienko, commenting on the decisions taken.

According to her, the signing and implementation of these agreements will have a stimulating impact on the other spheres of interaction. “We have a package of proposals in various fields — engineering, military-technical cooperation, the field of infrastructure, medicine, pharmaceutics,” — said Matvienko.

Including, according to the speaker of the upper house of the Russian Parliament, there is progress in the field of cooperation in civil aviation. “We closed the issue related to the transfer of the Cuban airline’s six aircraft An-158. Gradually we leave the issue of accreditation of supply of spare parts and aircraft for repair works. Moving the topic to establish a regional centre for servicing and repair of helicopters, and advance the negotiations on the creation in Cuba transport hub international”, she added.

Cabrisas stressed that Cuba is satisfied with the current rate of trade and economic relations with Russia.
