Ukraine needs “moral support”, said Chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe Volodymyr Ariev. It implies the abolition of visa regime for the country.
MADRID, 22 Oct. Deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to the parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and PACE Vice-President Volodymyr Ariev believes that Kiev will not manage without international financial assistance, as all funds are currently spent on the military operation in the Donbass.
According to Ukrainian MP, Ukraine “needs a clear “the Marshall Plan”.
“That is not only a reform plan, but the plan of financial support. Because we will not be able to implement reforms without the necessary international assistance. Internal resources are used to the Ukrainian army”, — Aryev said at the round table devoted to relations between Ukraine, Russia and the EU in the framework of the European people’s party Congress taking place in Madrid.
He added that the country also needed “moral support”, which, in his opinion, should be expressed, particularly in the granting Ukraine visa-free regime. “We expect not only financial support but also moral support. Moral support is the abolition of the visa regime for Ukraine. We are sure that Ukraine should not be limited to facilitation of the visa regime, but repealing it,” said the Ariev.
The Ukrainian authorities in April last year launched a military operation against the self-proclaimed LNR and DND. According to the United Nations, victims of the conflict began more than 8 thousand people. The settlement of the situation in the Donbas region is discussed, including during meetings in Minsk of the contact group, which since last September has already received three documents governing the steps to de-escalate the conflict.
