The mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin and the Governor of Tokyo, yōichi Masuzoe signed a Memorandum of understanding and cooperation between the governments of the two capitals for the period from 2016 to 2018. The ceremony took place on this occasion in the building of the Tokyo city hall.
According to the document, the capital of Japan and Russia will carry out cooperation and exchanges in areas such as urban development and planning; sport and development of sport infrastructure; recycling of municipal waste. The government of Moscow and Tokyo also agreed to continue cooperation in those areas in which it already has, and to develop partnerships.
During the two-day business trip Sobyanin intends to get acquainted with the objects of urban Tokyo, in particular, with the work of the Centre of road traffic organization. City officials are proud of the fact that in recent years has made significant progress in addressing traffic congestion, including through a unique computer technology that allows real-time monitoring of the traffic situation and display it on the interactive Board. The idea is to demonstrate this technology belongs to the mayor Masuzoe.
