SOCHI, October 22. Russia is opposed to the policies of messianism in world Affairs, but ready to seek common ground with the West. This was stated by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin at a meeting of the discussion club “Valdai”.
“When the basis for the current policy is a kind of messianism and exceptionalism, it is difficult for us to have a dialogue in this format, because this is a departure from our common traditional values, which, of course, is the equality of all people before God,” said Putin.
He emphasized – “it does not mean that we are in such a reference frame can not or should not seek common ground, we’ll do it.” “Very much counting on the fact that our partners are ready for such work”, – said the Russian leader.
Speaking about the difference between Russia and the West, Putin expressed the view that “the basis of Russian world Outlook is the idea of good and evil, of higher forces, the divine principle” and the basis of Western thinking – interest and pragmatism.
