State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin said that the expected amendments to the extension property of a foreign state and the protection of the interests of Russia.
MOSCOW, 23 Oct. The state Duma on Friday at plenary session may take in the second and third readings of the bill on the response to illegal arrests of the Russian property abroad, allowing to restrict the jurisdictional immunity of a foreign state on the territory of the Russian Federation on the basis of the principle of reciprocity.
Jurisdictional immunities of foreign States and their property on the territory of Russia may be limited on the basis of the principle of reciprocity, if in that country the Russian Federation is granted jurisdictional immunity in a more limited manner. It is expected that the adoption of the law will create a good basis for consideration by the Russian courts claims against foreign States in the Russian jurisdiction.
State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin on Thursday noted that the document has received several “substantial” amendments to the second reading.
“In particular, one of the rules proposed in the second reading, says that the provisions of this law shall be executed in case of the Russian Federation and foreign state agree otherwise”, — explained Naryshkin.
“Also, importantly, clarifies the definition of property of a foreign state, that is, expands the composition of the property of a foreign state that provides greater protection of the interests of the Russian Federation”, — said the speaker.
