Forecast: electricity tariffs for the population of the Russian Federation will grow by 7.5%


MOSCOW, 24 Oct. Indexation of electricity tariffs for the population in 2016 will amount to 7.5%, 2017 8%, and in 2018 of 7.2%, according stated in the forecast of socio-economic development of Russia, published on the official website of the state Duma in a single package of documents of the Federal budget in 2016.

This indexing does not take into account the introduction of sidorme electricity consumption. Rates will increase on 1 July.

“The outrunning growth of tariffs for the population in 2017 or 2018 aims to reduce the magnitude of cross-subsidization in the electric power industry”, — stated in the forecast.

When cross-subsidies between consumers industry overpays for the population. The amount of cross subsidy is estimated at about 250 billion rubles annually. According to the forecast, for the elimination of cross subsidies will not only outrunning growth of tariffs for the population, but also changing the mechanism of formation of tariff of power grid companies.
