The mayors of Moscow and Astana signed a new cooperation programme

ASTANA, October 24. The mayors of Moscow and Astana, the mayor and Adilbek Dzhaksybekov signed a new programme cooperation between the capitals of two States in the years 2016-2018. The document was developed in order to implement the agreement on cooperation in trade – economic, scientific-practical, humanitarian-cultural fields of 20 June 2000.

“We sign a new programme cooperation in various fields. This is and urban governance, health, development of new information technologies and a number of other directions”, – said Sobyanin.

He also stressed that the cooperation of two cities “was never limited and will not be limited to formal documents”. “Both our countries, thanks to our presidents signed the documents and the integration that they provided in the framework of the Eurasian economic Union (EAEU), Customs Union, historically the closest. I am sure that despite temporary economic difficulties, we will reach a new level of development and cooperation for the benefit of our countries, our cities and our citizens,” said Moscow mayor.

In turn, the akim (head of administration) of Astana also noted that between two cities there are “long-standing friendly and partnership relations”. “Russia is the closest country to Kazakhstan,” he said.
