TBILISI, 25 Oct. Magee Kikaleyshvili. President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili reiterates its demand to include in the agenda at the next meeting of the government criticized the media and opposition on the issue of cooperation and talks with Russia’s Gazprom.
In September the Minister of energy of Georgia Kakha Kaladze held a meeting with representatives of Gazprom. He admitted the possibility of the increased supply of Russian gas, if Georgia will offer a cost that can compete with supplies from Azerbaijan. However, these negotiations sharply criticized representatives of the Georgian opposition and some media. The Georgian opposition has systematically organized the protest action with a demand to stop the Georgian government’s talks with Gazprom.
“We heard from high-ranking officials a lot of conflicting theories about this issue. We want to get information about such a sensitive issue. We have been called to negotiate with certain senior officials and to understand the situation. These conversations were many, but we didn’t get a clear picture. Therefore, still in force our request to be considered at government session the question of Gazprom”, — said the adviser to the President of Georgia, Pikria Chikhradze.
In mid-October, the President of Georgia addressed the administration of the government with a request to consider the issue of energy security and transit of energy to the next government meeting. However, the response from government representatives was not followed. Kaladze then stated that he sees no need to consider this issue.
