Airlines of Ukraine from 25 October, will prohibit the use of Russian airspace

MOSCOW, 28 September. The Ministry of transport of the Russian aviation authorities gave the instruction to send Ukrainian airlines notice of termination of use of air space of Russia from October 25. About it reported in a press-service of the Ministry of transport.

“In accordance with the instruction of Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev the Ministry of transport of Russia has directed to Federal Agency of air transport (Rosaviation) to provide the airlines of Ukraine, committing or planning to operate flights to destinations in the territory of the Russian Federation, notice of the termination of use of air space of Russia from October 25,” – said the press service.

This measure would be a response to Ukraine’s decision, on September 28, unilaterally, in violation of existing norms and regulations on air traffic signalled a number of Russian airlines that since the beginning of winter navigation, namely on 25 October, bans the execution of air travel between Russia and Ukraine, said the Ministry of transport.

Earlier, Ukraine has notified the Russian airlines banning flights to the country from October 25, in accordance with the decision of the Council of national security and defense of the country and the decree of the head of the Ukrainian state. In the sanctions lists of Kiev were “Aeroflot” and about 20 Russian airlines. According to published on the website of the President of Ukraine to the document, the Russian carriers are partially or fully banned flights, transport and transit on the territory of Ukraine.

In the “black list” is not only the largest Russian carrier “Aeroflot” (flies to Kiev and Odessa), but also three of his “daughter” the airline “Russia” and “Donavia”, “Orenburg airlines”. In the same list the second largest airline of Russia, Transaero, recently transferred under the operational management of “Aeroflot”. The document also included such major carriers like S7 (“Siberia” takes the third place on volumes of transportations) and “Ural airlines” (the fifth place on volume of traffic). In addition, the list includes “Globus”, “Vim-Avia”, “Kogalymavia”, “Gazpromavia” and the Red Wings. All these carriers are the first thirty of Russia’s largest airlines.

In the sanctions list also got special flying squad “Russia”, which is engaged in transportation of the first persons of the country and 224th flight detachment of the defense Ministry.
