TOKYO, 26 Oct. Ivan Zakharchenko. Japanese company Mitsui & Co. intends to buy 49% stake in a Brazilian state company Petroleo Brasileiro S. A. (Petrobras), said in a press release issued on Monday in Tokyo.
Mitsui reports that the transaction will take place immediately after the authorities approve it.
The amount of the transaction will amount to 67 billion Japanese yen (over us $ 500 million).
In 2006, Mitsui acquired shares in the company Mitsui Gas that has equal shares in local distribution companies in seven Brazilian States.
Now Mitsui has its shares of eight Brazilian States, and buy Gaspetro through Mitsui Gas will allow the Japanese company to have a share in the distribution of gas in a volume of 30 million cubic meters per day in 19 States in the Central, northeastern and southern Brazil.
