Bloomberg: Turkey has submitted to arbitration the claim to “Gazprom” contesting the price of Russian gas

ANKARA, October 27. / Corr. Kirill Zharov/. Turkey has applied to international arbitration the claim to “Gazprom” contesting the price of Russian gas. This was reported by the journalist. the head of the press service of the Ministry of energy and natural resources of Turkey Ugur Alici.

“On the 26th of October a lawsuit was filed in international arbitration regarding the purchase of natural gas from Russia in the period from 29 December 2014”, – he said.

As reported, on July 31, Minister of energy Alexander Novak said that Gazprom and Botas have agreed on a discount on gas at 10.25%. Novak added that while any documents is not signed discount.

The gas discount for Turkish state-owned companies is a compromise between Russia and Turkey in the framework of approval of an intergovernmental agreement on construction of the first line of Turkish stream. The Russian side has sent a draft intergovernmental agreement and hopes that his signing and the signing of additional agreements at a discount will be considered time-bound.

Earlier, in October it was reported that Turkey may reconsider cooperation with Russia on gas, finding new sources of fuel supply.

“We is a major buyer of Russian gas. The loss of Turkey to Russia will be a great loss. Turkey, if need be, can get gas from many other sources. But this should not happen. Russia is our very important trading partner, therefore she should approach this issue with greater sensitivity,” said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
