Foreign Ministry: Moscow outraged by the refusal of the district court of new York to reconsider the case of Victor bout

MOSCOW, October 27. In Moscow angered by the refusal of the district court of new York to revise the criminal case against Russian citizen Viktor bout.

This was stated by the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“See this decision as another step politicized American judiciary, explicitly performing the order “from above”, – said the diplomat.

“We demand from the US authorities to finally put an end to arbitrariness in relation to citizens of Russia, – said Zakharov. – For its part, will continue aggressively to enforce the rights of the bout and his return to the Motherland, using all the provided for this legal and political mechanisms”.

She also reported that in response to the request to review the sentence booth extended for six months stay in the block of strict regime.

The lifting of sanctions

The court’s decision was to protect a big surprise for the defenders of the accused. The lawyers said that they planned to implement judicial conference – open procedure event, which was expected to raise the issue of withdrawal from the bout of sanctions of the UN Security Council. The Arrest

Bout was arrested in Bangkok in March 2008 at the request of the United States and handed over to American authorities in November 2010.

A year later, 12 jurors in Federal court in new York unanimously found the Russian guilty of conspiring to sell weapons to grouping “Revolutionary armed forces of Colombia”, which is considered in the USA as a terrorist organization. In April 2012 he was sentenced to 25 years in prison.
