The delegation of South Sudan’s Ministry of petroleum arrived in India and held talks with the Indian side and ONGC Videsh. Discussed ONGC Videsh investment in oil fields in southern Sudan, where insecurity has stopped working.
NEW DELHI, 27 Oct. India is interested in the resumption of work on the fields, where he leads the activities of Indian state-owned ONGC Videsh, said on Tuesday at a briefing the official representative of foreign Ministry of India Vikas Swarup.
This issue was discussed at the meeting of the foreign Ministers of South Sudan and India.
“They discussed the ONGC Videsh investment in oil fields in southern Sudan, where insecurity has stopped working. India’s foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj was asked to take steps for resumption of work in the shortest possible time, since ONGC Videsh extremely interested in the fact that the workers returned and began oil production,” said Swarup.
According to him, the foreign Minister of South Sudan Barnaba Benjamin said that the South Sudanese delegation from the Ministry of oil came to India and held talks with the Indian side and ONGC Videsh. “Both sides were satisfied with the agreements reached,” said Swarup.
On Monday in new Delhi opened the third summit of the India-Africa forum, which brings together 54 African countries. On Tuesday, the foreign Minister of India held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from South Africa, Cameroon, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Cape Verde, DRC, Ghana, South Sudan and Tunisia.
