“Gazprom” will not participate in the tender for the supply of gas to Ukraine


MOSCOW, October 28. “Gazprom” does not plan to participate in the tender for the supply of gas to Ukraine on the West, said a senior source in the Russian company.

“We will not participate in the tender”, – he said. The Agency interlocutor added that if Ukraine needs gas on the Western border, “Naftogaz” or other Ukrainian companies can participate in the auction for the purchase of gas under short-term contracts, which began to “Gazprom export”.

As previously reported, the European Bank for reconstruction and development (EBRD) has provided Ukraine with $300 million for gas injection into its underground storage facilities. The gas must be supplied from the Western border, that is from Europe. To receive these funds should the bid on terms that the Bank has identified for providers.

“Gazprom export” has already held the first auction for the sale of gas for export on short-term contracts. The next auction is scheduled for late 2015 – early 2016.
