MOSCOW, October 28. The importance of consolidating efforts of the international community in combating terrorism was stressed at a joint meeting of the RF foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and co-chair of the joint Russian-Israeli Commission on trade and economic cooperation, Minister of immigrant absorption and Minister for Jerusalem Affairs of Israel Zeev Elkin. This was reported today in the Russian foreign Ministry following the talks.
“During the meeting the parties reviewed in detail the state and prospects of further strengthening of multifaceted Russian-Israeli cooperation, including political dialogue at various levels and cooperation in trade-economic, humanitarian and other spheres”, – have informed in depodesta.
“They also exchanged views on the current situation in the middle East, said the Russian foreign Ministry. – At the same time on both sides expressed concern over the increasing terrorist threat in the region, noted the importance of consolidating efforts of the international community in combating this global challenge.”
“Sergei Lavrov expressed serious concern at the escalation of recent tensions in the Palestinian territories and the violence in Israel, stressing the need to promptly defuse the situation and resume the negotiation process between Israelis and Palestinians,” he said in depodesta.
