The agriculture Ministry is ready to consider the inclusion of canned food into the sanction list

MOSCOW, October 28. The agriculture Ministry is ready to consider the inclusion of canned food in the sanctions list of products, but the final decision on this matter taken by the government. About it reported in a press-service of the Ministry, commenting on the proposal of Senator Sergei Lisovsky include canned meat in the sanctions list of products the import of which is prohibited in Russia.

“We in the Ministry of agriculture the initiative has not yet been reported. When you receive a examine in the prescribed manner. The final decision taken by the government, because the list approved by decree of the government”, – said the representative office.

Earlier Wednesday, the first Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on agrarian and food policy Sergei Lisovsky proposed to include canned meat produced in the countries that supported anti-Russian sanctions, the sanctions list of products.

According to the Senator, when drawing up the sanctions list was a clerical error which resulted in the raw meat was in the lists, and cans not included.

“A strange situation: we prohibit the importation of raw materials from countries that supported sanctions against Russia, at the same time allow the importation of this raw material products in Russia”, – he said at the plenary session of the Federation Council.

According to Lisowski, he repeatedly appealed on this issue to the relevant agencies, but a clear answer has not received.

In June 2015, a proposal to amend the sanctions list canned food (back then it was about fish products – approx. ed.) received from the Federal Agency for fishery. The Agency has offered the Ministry of agriculture and the government of the Russian Federation to bring in anticyclonic list of canned fish, as Russia was self-sufficient enough already canning products, while importing exotic canned food no problem.

However, in September, the head of Rosrybolovstvo Ilya Shestakov said that the Ministry decided not to include canned fish in the sanctions list of products.
