The authorities of Leningrad region have confirmed that Ford planned voluntary dismissal of workers


ST PETERSBURG, October 29. /Corr. Svetlana Afonina/. In the economic block of the government of Leningrad region have confirmed that the plant Ford in Vsevolozhsk new year holidays will be extended, and that the company plans to launch a program of voluntary layoffs.

“We are closely monitoring the situation at the Vsevolozhsk Ford plant and see the trend of significant decline in sales in the automotive market, including in the segment, which focused on the enterprise. In this regard, the management company has to take measures aimed at saving money. In particular, Ford made the decision to increase the period of traditional new year holidays. In addition, the company plans to launch a program of voluntary dismissal, within a week, which will allow the employees desire to leave and find a new job”, – reported the press service with reference to Deputy Chairman of the government of the region Dmitry Yalov.

He recalled that the authorities of Leningrad region are working to support the company. In particular, in the regional Parliament passes second reading of the bill, which will give the plant a tax incentive of 50% tax rates on business property. “This year we have also suggested subsidizing of some costs for a car Assembly companies, for example, in terms of training employees,” – said Yalov.

However, the official noted that “the situation on the market requires from enterprises a new, balanced approach, development of new strategies of doing business”.

As reported, the plant can be stopped the pipeline for almost two months: from 18 November 2015 to 15 January 2016. As told the Agency the representative of the primary trade Union organization (PPO) Ford Artem Yashenkov, the company today also announced a programme of voluntary dismissal with payment of five salaries. According to preliminary estimates, it may affect 180-190 people.

In turn, the press service of Ford Sollers announced that the traditional new year holidays “will be increased”, but the dates are not called. The company also confirmed that the plant is running a program of voluntary dismissal, but did say that it will be valid the week, “therefore, the figures (fired – ed.) will be quite modest”.

Work in one shift from 2014

The Ford plant is a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and Russian group Sollers. At the plant in Vsevolozhsk produced models Focus and Mondeo. From 2014, the plant started to work in one shift, but then were dismissed by agreement of the parties 700 people and introduced short-time working. The reason was the depreciation of the ruble, as part of components for Assembly of cars imported, and the drop in sales on the Russian market. According to experts, in 2014 the plant capacities were loaded by 25-30%. The company does not disclose production volumes.

In 2015, the plant began production of the new Ford Mondeo and new Ford Focus. Then Executive Director, Ford Sollers Adil Shirinov said that the company intends “to leave “four days” and return to normal work”. He also expressed the hope that “sales of the new Mondeo and Focus will allow you to do this in the near future.”

At the moment the company employs about 1.4 million people.
