Foreign trade turnover of the Murmansk region with neighboring Norway has decreased during the first six months of 2015, 42%, and imports fell by 64.5 percent, Minister of economic development of the Murmansk region Elena Tikhonova on the opening days of cross-border cooperation.

According to the Minister, and 2015 has continued the trend in 2014. “In the first half of the trading turnover decreased by 42%. Norway moved from third to sixth place in the list of trade partners of the region”, — said Tikhonov. She noted that the decline occurred primarily at the expense of imports, which fell by 64.5 percent.

According to the Ministry, in 2014 compared to previous year foreign trade turnover reduced by 27% and amounted to 172,7 million dollars. The greatest impact on exports had a decline in the supply of aluminium and phosphate rock, the imports influenced the decline in the supplies of Norwegian fish by 50%.

But, despite these trends, continuing development of business contacts. “In the Murmansk region has 25 enterprises with Norwegian capital, which is one third of all enterprises with foreign participation in the region”, — said Tikhonov, adding that their share capital is 128 million rubles, and in 2014 it rose by four million rubles.
