Russia insists that Kiev’s gas debt is not private debt and sovereign government debt that must be paid, said the President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
MOSCOW, 30 Oct. Ukraine should fulfill its obligations to Russia on the repayment of debt in 3 billion dollars, said Friday the President’s press Secretary Dmitry Peskov.
“Russia’s position has not undergone any changes. Actually, Russia still insists that, first, it is not private debt, it’s sovereign public debt, which must be paid,” said Sands reporters, responding to a question, whether Russia sees the possibility of a pretrial settlement of a debt of Ukraine to Russia given the new IMF rules.
“There is such a duty. There is a commitment from the Ukrainian side, which has to be done,” added the spokesman.
