Russia and France are the opportunities for development of partnership in the field of geothermal energy, said the Minister of ecology, sustainable development and energy of France, ségolène Royal.
MOSCOW, 31 Oct. France and Russia have the capability in developing partnerships in the field of geothermal and nuclear energy, said the Minister of ecology, sustainable development and energy of France, ségolène Royal.
“We, France and Russia, there are opportunities for development of partnership in the field of geothermal energy, including the use of satellite observations and accumulation of electricity. As for nuclear energy, now we are in France it produced 75% of the electricity. But you probably know that the French Parliament approved a law by which the bar is reduced to 50%. But here, too, possible cooperation (with Russia): in terms of performance, conditions of production, so there is less waste and so on,” said Royal, in an interview to the program “Vesti on Saturday with Sergei Brilev”.
The Minister recalled that France had already decided to abandon coal, and expressed the hope that Russia will do the same. “I understand that need to sometimes be radical, but nothing changes. Russia is a giant gas producer. And has enormous hydropower. I think that Russia may agree not to use coal,” added Royal.
