Bogdanov: meeting of opposition and government of Syria could take place in Moscow next week


MOSCOW, November 3. A meeting of representatives of the opposition and the Syrian government could be held in Moscow next week. This was announced on 3 November the journalists, special representative of Russian President for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

“Such a meeting is planned. Will invite next week,” he said.

“We will invite a wide spectrum of the opposition – said the Deputy Minister. – As for the SAR government, they are always ready, there is no problem here”.

Bogdanov recalled that Moscow has repeatedly provided a platform for exchange of views, the representatives of the opposition and the Syrian government. “You can call this meeting Moscow-2,5, – he said, referring to two previous Moscow meetings. – Look forward to constructive discussions”.

According to him, the tight deadlines of the political process in Syria could lead eventually to a standstill.

“Proposals on the terms of (final Vienna) the document was removed, because we say: why wait 4-6 months, if it can be done sooner? And at the same time you can bring yourself to a standstill these terms, because, unfortunately, not everything depends on us,” he said.
