The Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko said the cooperation between Russia and Armenia, humanitarian cooperation, strong ties in the spheres of education, science and high technologies.
YEREVAN, 3 Nov. The speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko has proposed to create an inter-regional forum of countries-members of the Eurasian economic Union.
AAAS is an international integration economic Union created on the basis of the Customs Union and the common economic space and functioning from January 1 of the current year. Now members of the EEU are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
On Wednesday, Matvienko participates in the opening of the fourth Russian-Armenian interregional forum “Russia. Armenia. The Eurasian economic Union. New prospects for interregional cooperation”.
“I think that the agenda can stand and interregional forum for member countries of the Eurasian economic Union”, — said Matvienko.
The speaker of the Federation Council noted the cooperation between the two countries, humanitarian cooperation, strong ties in the spheres of education, science and high technologies. In addition, the construction in Armenia’s gas and energy complexes with Gazprom’s participation, modernization of company “Russian aluminum” plant “RUSAL ARMENAL” company “inter RAO UES” energy facilities of the Sevan-Hrazdan hydropower system.
Matvienko wish the forum became a platform for the analysis of interaction between regions of the two countries.
She also noted that at a recent meeting of presidents of two countries Vladimir Putin stressed “the special character of relations between Russia and Armenia, having in mind the accession of Armenia to the Eurasian economic Union and full participation in our other integration structure — CSTO”.
Membership in the EEU and Russia opens new opportunities for accelerated harmonious development that are required to be implemented, said Matvienko.
