Medvedev made the state Duma a bill to perpetuate the memory of victims of repression


The bill, in particular, it is proposed to enshrine the rights of public authorities and local governments to implement measures to perpetuate the memory of victims of political repression and to support the activities in this area.

MOSCOW, 3 Nov. Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered to introduce to the state Duma (state Duma) the draft Federal law on the powers of the authorities to perpetuate the memory of victims of political repressions, the corresponding order published on the website of the Cabinet on Tuesday.

“The bill proposes to make changes to certain legislative acts of the Russian Federation aimed at creation of optimal legal and organisational conditions for the implementation of Federal public authorities, public authorities of subjects of Federation and bodies of local self-government tasks to perpetuate the memory of victims of political repressions”, — follows from the explanatory note to the document.

It is noted that in particular, the law of the Russian Federation of 18 October 1991 No. 1761-1 “On rehabilitation of victims of political repressions” it is proposed to add the following new article 181, enshrining the right of public authorities and local governments to implement measures to perpetuate the memory of and support the activities of organizations and citizens in this area.

Also, the bill provides for the extension of the list of socially oriented non-profit organizations that may be supported by state authorities and local self-government, organizations engaged in activities to perpetuate the memory.

The official representative from the government during consideration of this bill appointed the Minister of justice of the Russian Federation Mikhail Galperin.
