Naryshkin: Russia and Algeria have the same understanding of the threats posed by ISIS


MOSCOW, November 4. Russia and Algeria have a similar vision of the dangers posed by “Islamic State” (IG – banned in the Russian Federation terrorist group). This was stated to journalists following the meeting with the Chairman of the National people’s Assembly of Algeria, Mohamed Ould Larbi Haliti state Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin, who is on an official visit at the head of the delegation of the lower house of the Russian Parliament in the people’s Democratic Republic.

The speaker also noted that on most international issues Russia and Algeria have either the same or a similar position. “We see that in this great, but, unfortunately, the troubled region of North Africa and the Middle East, Algeria is one of the few Islands of calm and stability”, – said Sergey Naryshkin.

Khalifa, in turn, noted that Russia and Algeria are bound by historical relations. “Between Algiers and Moscow established a strategic partnership, and this reflects the close interaction at the level of heads of state. Must say that the first agreement on strategic partnership with Russia, the Arab countries signed the Algiers”, – reminded the head of the lower house of the Algerian Parliament.

Earlier, the speaker of the state Duma and the head of the Algerian national Assembly laid flowers to the monument to the fallen in the struggle for independence “Maqam al-Shahid”.

Russia and Algeria are interested in expanding Interparliamentary cooperation

Russia and Algeria noted the high interest in expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation, Naryshkin said after the meeting with Chairman of the National people’s Assembly (the lower house of Parliament) of Algeria by Mohamed Ould Larbi Haliti.

“At the meeting we noted a high interest in expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation between the parliaments of our two countries, given the fact that cooperation at the international level is developing quite positively,” Naryshkin said to journalists.

Goswami the speaker noted that Russia appreciates the value of this cooperation in the economic, political and humanitarian spheres.

Naryshkin was invited to visit Moscow the head of the National people’s Assembly of Algeria

State Duma speaker Sergei Naryshkin has invited the Chairman of the National people’s Assembly of Algeria, Mohamed Ould Larbi Halifa to visit Moscow.

“I would like to invite my distinguished colleague, the Chairman of the National people’s Assembly of Algeria to visit Moscow. We’ll really have to wait,” Naryshkin said after a meeting with his Algerian counterpart.

On the situation in the middle East

The situation in the middle East was complicated by the intervention of the USA and other countries in the internal Affairs of some countries in the region, said the speaker of the state Duma.

Russian speaker indicated that during the meeting with his Algerian counterpart, they discussed the difficult situation prevailing in the regions of North Africa and the Middle East – “a situation that was primarily caused by interference in the internal Affairs of some countries (such as Iraq, Syria, Libya) third players, primarily the United States and the European Union”.

“This has led to sad consequences, to chaos, to chaos, to the emergence of complex socio-political conflicts in these countries and, of course, unfortunately, dozens or even hundreds of human lives”, – Naryshkin said.

He also stressed that “Russia and Algeria have common understanding of the causes of these crises and strictly insist on upholding the principles of non-interference in the internal Affairs of other countries”.

The visit to Algeria

The delegation of Russian parliamentarians headed Naryshkin is on an official visit in Algeria. The speaker of the state Duma is scheduled to meet with the leadership of the Republic, during which it is planned to discuss prospects of cooperation in various fields, as well as topical issues of regional security with an emphasis on cooperation in combating international terrorism.
