The Russian foreign Ministry: Moscow considers terrorists anyone with a weapon is fighting against Damascus

MOSCOW, November 5. Moscow does not consider all those who are fighting with guns with Damascus, terrorists. This was announced on Thursday the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

“We never said that all who are parties to the Syrian conflict, terrorists, she said. – Stated that there are terrorists, extremists, and there are armed opposition”.

“That’s why in Vienna on 30 October made lists and worked to build a common understanding of who are considered terrorists, – said Zakharov. – Differently what sense then was these lists to work out?”

Damascus will participate in the meeting with the opposition of ATS

Russia received confirmation from the government of Syria’s readiness to participate in the meeting with the opposition in accordance with the Vienna document, said the official representative of the Russian foreign Ministry.

“Damascus in the course (contact the Russian Federation with the opposition – ed.), we do not hide this work, some of it non-public, – said Maria Zakharova. – In the sense that not everything we say media, because, in particular, to discuss the location of the terrorist organizations at a press conference devoid of meaning. Of course, with our partners in the Vienna format, with Damascus and the UN – are in close contact.”

“We have also received confirmation from Damascus that they are willing to join such a meeting under the umbrella of the UN,” the official dialogue between the Syrian authorities and the opposition, ‘ she said. – From Damascus is a confirmation, we got it.”

Russia’s position has not changed

Russia’s position on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the whole Syrian issue has not changed, the claims of some mass media about the opposite – an attempt to sow discord and confusion, said Maria Zakharova, answering the question.

“This is not the first time. However, such statements are not based on anything at all. We got used to it, so even anything to refute it makes no sense, – the diplomat said. – Those journalists and pundits who occupy the Syrian settlement, and the townsfolk know that our position is clear”.

“It’s not about supporting or not supporting Assad – drew the attention of the administration. – It is not about personal support, and that it is not a question of Russia or any other state to decide who should be President. It is a question of the Syrian people”.

“For us, the crucial issue is the preservation of the Syrian state. She is, including the key to the fight against terrorism in the country and the region as a whole. It was the Syrian army is the force that “on earth” is against ISIS (terrorist group “Islamic state” that were banned in Russia – approx.TASS). Another change of power in the region will not lead to anything positive, and will be an additional element to the chaos that has overtaken a number of neighboring countries, – said the official representative of depodesta. – This is our basic position, it peripatoides us from time to time. No change of speech cannot be”.
