Consulate General of the Russian Federation checks the information about the allegedly detained in Antalya Russians

ANKARA, 6 November. /Corr. Kirill Zharov/. Consulate General of Russia in Antalya (Turkey) verifies information about the detention during anti-terrorist RAID two Russian citizens. This was reported today correspondent.TASS the Russian Consul in Antalya Alexey Shivanov.

“We have requested the police and other authorities. The answer didn’t come yet”, – he said.

On Friday morning, counter-terrorism Department of the police of Antalya on suspicion of having links with the group “Islamic state” (IG). On approval of the Anatolian Agency, among them two Russians. The local police have not commented on this information, having referred to interests of the investigation.

The raids took place in Antalya, as well as in the towns of Alanya and Manavgat near the region of Belek, where the November 15-16 summit of the “twenty” (G20). The detainees allegedly associated with the militant group in Syria and Iraq. They seized documents and CDs with information relating to the activities of the IG.


“Islamic state” (ISIS) – an Islamist terrorist organization operating inside Iraq and Syria. Established on 15 October 2006 by the merger of 11 radical Sunni groups. The core group forming the militants, who fought with American troops during their stay in Iraq and with the forces of the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria.

The IG recognized as a terrorist organization in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, India, Indonesia, and Russia (29 December 2014).
