New Belarusian money is misspelled

The national Bank explains that the new banknotes were manufactured in advance in 2008, before the adoption of the amendments to the rules of the Belarusian orthography.

MINSK, 4 Nov. New Belarusian money that will enter into circulation in Belarus from July 2016, it will temporarily spelling mistake and the signature of one of the former heads of the National Bank of the country, said on Wednesday the press service of the regulator.

The President of Belarus signed a decree on the denomination of the official monetary unit of the Republic. The document stipulates to conduct from 1 July 2016 the official denomination of the monetary unit of Belarus and to hold the replacement until 31 December 2016 circulating banknotes of the sample of 2000. Currently in circulation banknotes will be gradually withdrawn from use. From 1 January 2022 monetary signs of a sample of 2000 will be void.

“The preparations for the denomination took a sufficiently long period. So, the new banknotes that will be put into circulation from 1 July 2016, have been made of the National Bank in 2008”, — stated in the message. Explains that then, due to the global economic crisis and, as a consequence, the deterioration of the economic situation in the country, the holding of denominations was postponed, and made money is transferred to the Central vault of the National Bank.

“Given time for the production of new Belarusian rubles have certain characteristics,” warns the regulator.

“Issued in circulation banknotes of the sample of 2009 placed the facsimile signature on occupying the post of Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Piotr Prokopovich”, — stated in the message.

In addition, the new banknotes with denomination of 50 rubles inscription “pacijent” (Belarusian — “fifty”), which does not correspond to the currently applicable rules of the Belarusian orthography (amendments to the rules adopted in the summer of 2008 — ed.) — This word should be written using the letter “I” in the second syllable — “parijaat””, — stated in the message.

It stresses that the implementation of the National Bank subsequent orders for the production of new banknotes these discrepancies will be eliminated.
