Rostec told about the experiments on the conversion of energy in laser beams

The conversion of solar energy into laser beams will allow in future to reduce the cost of electricity, said the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

SLIDES, 6 Nov. A pilot installation of Rostec for the conversion of solar energy into laser beams will allow in future to reduce the cost of electricity, said on Friday the head of Rostec Sergey Chemezov.

“We have done a pilot plant. On a space satellite is set installation that collects solar energy and converts it into laser light. The laser beam moves on the Earth, there is converted installation in electrical energy. We estimated that this electric energy is cheaper than solar,” said Chemezov, Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev.

“You have the kind of conceptual history. In this regard, too, began now Americans to work,” Medvedev said.

“But I think we’re already a bit ahead of them”, — answered Sergey Chemezov.
