MOSCOW, November 6. Russian President Vladimir Putin and Egypt’s Abdel Fattah al-Sisi during a telephone conversation agreed to order to continue active cooperation between relevant agencies of the two countries, including through coordination between the security agencies and aviation authorities of Russia and Egypt. This was reported on 6 November, the press service of the Kremlin.
The agreement was reached on the basis of a common understanding of the need to ensure the highest standards of security of Russian citizens in Egypt, and also in conditions of the Russian side suspended air links with Egypt, noted the press service. The parties noted that these actions are intended to confirm the overall effectiveness of security measures taken by the Egyptian authorities at the airports of the country.
Participating in telephone interviews, noted in the Kremlin, expressed the hope that in the near future will create conditions for the resumption of normal air traffic between the two countries.
On Friday, the President of the Russian Federation agreed with the recommendations of the National anti-terrorism Committee to suspend air traffic with Egypt. As explained by the press Secretary of the head of state, Dmitry Peskov, this measure is entered not until the end of the investigation “Kogalymavia”, until then, until will not be provided the proper level of security. Putin also instructed to provide assistance to Russian citizens in return from Egypt.
According to Rostourism, at the moment in Egypt are about 70 thousand Russians.
Disaster in Egypt
The A321 aircraft to the Russian airline “Kogalymavia” carrying out flight 9268 Sharm El-Sheikh to St Petersburg, crashed on 31 October after about half an hour after departure, 100 km South from the administrative centre of province Northern Sinai city of El Arish, near the settlement of El Hasna.
