Turkish authorities confirmed the detention of two Russians in the course of a RAID against ISIS in Antalya

ANKARA, 6 November. /Corr. Kirill Zharov/. Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Antalya has received confirmation of the arrest of two Russians during anti-terrorist RAID by the local police. This was announced November 6 the offset.TASS the Russian Consul in Antalya Alexey Shivanov.

“We have received notification from the Turkish competent authorities about the detention of two men, citizens of Russia and that they are under suspicion. Other details while we can not tell due to the fact that there are investigative procedures,” he said.

On Friday morning, Turkish television reported that the counter-terrorism Department of the police of Antalya detained 20 people on suspicion of having links with the group “Islamic state” (IG). Among these persons were allegedly two Russians. The detainees are suspected of having links with the Islamic state and the implementation of activities in the interests of this group in Turkey.

The raids took place in Antalya, as well as in the towns of Alanya and Manavgat near the region of Belek, where the November 15-16 summit of the “twenty” (G20). The detainees allegedly associated with the militant group in Syria and Iraq. They seized documents and CDs with information relating to the activities of the IG.

The IG recognized as a terrorist organization in the USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Turkey, Egypt, UAE, India, Indonesia, and Russia (29 December 2014).
