YEREVAN, 9 November. The Minister of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov will visit on 9 November a working visit to Armenia where he will hold talks with foreign Minister of the country Edward Nalbandian.

As reported in the Russian depodesta, the meeting “will be considered of mutual interest issues of bilateral, regional and international agenda”.

It is expected that the Russian Minister will also take the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan.

In April of this year, visited Moscow Nalbandian. The Ministers meet regularly on the activities of the various integration associations, including the CIS, CSTO, EEU and other international venues. The last time Lavrov and Nalbandyan met on the forum of MGIMO graduates, which was held in the Armenian capital at the end of October. The foreign Ministers of both countries are graduates of this University.

Parties not officially announced what will be discussed during the upcoming meeting of Ministers. But, apparently, one of the Central themes will be the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. The situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border in recent times is alarming, the parties regularly accuse each other of attacks and provocations. Against this background, the OSCE Minsk group on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the co-chairs of which are now representatives of Russia, France and the United States, announced the preparation of the meeting of the presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. It is planned to spend till the end of the year. Previous contacts between the leaders of the two countries held in August 2014 in Sochi with the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Lavrov has already visited Azerbaijan. His visit took place in Baku in early September. He expressed hope for progress in Nagorno Karabakh issue.

In addition to the Nagorno-Karabakh issue from the Ministers of the two countries there are many other topics for discussion. Armenia from January 2015, join the Eurasian economic Union. Questions to deepen integration and ensure the interests of the Association to occupy an important place in the discussions of the member countries of the EAEU. In addition, in September 2015 Yerevan took over the chairmanship in the CSTO, and with the growing Islamist threat from Afghanistan the relevance of effective interaction within the organization is of particular relevance.

To the fore during the meeting you can leave and issues of economic cooperation. The trade turnover between the two countries in 2014 amounted to $1.4 billion dollars, but, as noted during his visit to Yerevan in early November, the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko, during the first half of 2015, its volume decreased by 3.2%. About the ways of activation of business ties, will obviously be discussed at the meeting, Lavrov and Nalbandian.
